Natick hit hard as thunderstorms blanket eastern Mass. Saturday

NATICK, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – As severe thunderstorms rolled through eastern Massachusetts Saturday night Natick was one of the hardest hit areas.

The storms left many roads flooded, including Route 9 and Speen Street, but then gave residents a beautiful view with rainbows across the state.

"Every time I passed a tree coming up Speen Street, I'd go don't fall on me, don't fall on me," Eula Tolman said.

The area around Robinhood Road was one of the hardest hit areas in Natick where trees fell on several cars and houses.

"I guess we assumed there must have been a mini-tornado touchdown. And then we learned it was called a microburst," Betsy Johnson said.

The National Weather service said that while it is clear damaging winds occurred during the storm, based on reports from weather spotters and pictures they do not believe it was a microburst.

"They heard just a loud bang they came outside, the tree down in the driveway, the power lines everywhere," Alex Bonder said.

Frequent lightning strikes also knocked out power in several areas.
