REVERE, Mass. — A Massachusetts State Trooper was hit by an allegedly drunk motorcyclist Saturday on Revere Beach Boulevard.
The trooper had just gotten out of his cruiser as part of a traffic stop on the boulevard. The motorcyclist, Danilo Diroche, 26, of Lynn, directly hit the trooper.
Police say he went on to hit a car and then tried to run away on foot, but was apprehended.
The trooper was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with contusion and laceration injuries and a possible concussion.
Police said Diroche was arrested on scene and taken to Whidden Hospital for minor injuries. Police said they've determined he was intoxicated.
Diroche will be charged with stop for police, marked lanes violation, operating to endanger, speeding, unsafe passing, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a motor vehicle. He's been additionally charged with an OUI and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
State Police said the trooper's identity is not going to be released at this time.
