Children hit by truck while crossing street in Marblehead

UPDATE: Police said the driver of the vehicle has been identified and police are no longer calling this a hit and run, the driver is not facing charges. Police have also corrected the ages of the people involved, they are three children - not a mother and two children as originally reported.

MARBLEHEAD, Mass. –- A woman and two children were hit by a car Tuesday afternoon while crossing a street in Marblehead, police said.

The car involved, described as a white pickup truck driven by a white male in his 40s, fled the scene without stopping.

The crash happened at the intersection of Pleasant and Bessom streets around 3:30 p.m.

One child was taken to the hospital by ambulance, it’s unclear how serious those injuries are or if the mother and other child were injured.
