About 127 utility customers in Houghs Neck lost their heat Tuesday night as temperatures plummeted. Crews worked overnight to diagnose the problem.

The Houghs Neck Maritime Center on Bayview Road is open for residents until the issues are fixed. Then, National Grid representatives will need to access homes to restore gas service.

National Grid says it turns out there was water in one of the gas mains, which caused the issue. They don't know how it got there, but they got to work pumping it out. Now they have to restore gas back to that main and then one-by-one restore gas to each of the 127 homes.

Some important numbers residents should have are:

  • Maritime Center 617-745-5896
  • National Grid 1-800-233-5325

According to National Grid, the best case scenario is that gas will be restored late Wednesday.
