Milton Police officer taken to hospital after cruiser was struck from behind

A Milton Police officer's cruiser was struck from behind during a crash Friday, according to Milton Police.

Police said the cruiser was struck on Route 28 in Milton around 5:30 p.m., near the corner of Hallen Ave and the Wollaston Golf Club.

The officer was responding to a fire alarm at a house at the time of the incident, and had stopped with his blinker on and lights on as he waited to make a left-hand turn.

As he waited for northbound traffic to pass, his cruiser was struck from behind by another vehicle.

Both the driver of the other vehicle and the officer were taken to area hospitals with injuries that weren't deemed to be life-threatening, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
