LOWELL, Mass. — Police in Lowell are investigating the death of a jet ski rider after a crash on the Merrimack River.
The crash happened around 2 p.m. in the area of Rynne Beach.
According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the crash may have involved two jet skis.
People who live along the river said it’s a popular spot for boats large and small, and there may have just been too many people enjoying the weather on July 4 for it to be safe.
“High-speed boats and jet skis in different directions, very close to each other doing turns and you know, wild,” Mario Tamayo said.
