CHICOPEE, Mass. — A man died in a single-car crash in Chicopee after having a "medical crisis" at the wheel.
Chicopee Police found a 72-year-old man's car damaged by a guard rail Wednesday night after responding to calls of a possible crash involving a pedestrian on Fuller Road.
Officers found the driver, and say the man "appeared to be having some type of medical crisis" requiring life-saving measures.
The man passed away after being transported to the hospital.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but believe the driver passed away due to a medical event, rather than the crash itself.
The driver's wife was in the passenger's seat of the car when the accident happened, and took the wheel to steer the car into a guardrail to avoid any head-on collision.

The wife was not injured in the accident, and the car suffered minor damage.
