McDonald's calls bachelor's degree posting 'misinformation'

WINCHENDON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A McDonald's in Winchendon, which came under fire for a job posting asking cashier candidates to have a bachelor's degree, released a statement Thursday attributing the misinformation to an independent job site.

Joe and Lori Ruscito, owners and operators of the Winchendon location, released a statement to FOX 25 that read, "There has been some misinformation reported by an independent job site with no relationship to the Winchendon, Massachusetts McDonald's. The original job posting, which could be accessed through McState.com, did not require a bachelor's degree."

The Ruscitos say they are working to correct the information on the website; however, the website has been unresponsive.

"We do not require a bachelor's degree for employment. My organization is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse work force," the statement concluded.

The job posting on JobDiagnosis.com says cashier candidates should have one to years of experience, as well as a bachelor's degree.
