Homeward bound: Cat missing for nearly three weeks inside Logan Airport found safe

Rowdy will be reunited with her family shortly

BOSTON — Rowdy the cat, who has lived up to her namesake, was found early Wednesday morning after going missing for nearly three weeks inside Logan Airport, according to officials.

Massport says the tenacious tabby escaped her kennel on June 24 after arriving on a Lufthansa flight and has been roaming around the airport ever since. Staff set up wildlife cameras around Terminal E in areas Rowdy had been spotted, hoping for a positive outcome, according to airport officials.

Massport says the search for Rowdy became a “community effort,” with everyone from construction workers to airline staff constantly checking for her.

The rescuers finally had their faith rewarded Wednesday when the cat allowed herself to be caught, according to authorities.

Rowdy is now in the custody of the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) and will be reunited with her family shortly, according to a spokesperson.

“[She] is in great shape, eating very well and is extremely friendly,” the ARL spokesperson added.

Rowdy’s owners are currently in Florida and are working on logistics to get her home. She will remain in the care of the ARL until then.
