“After careful consideration and in collaboration with the Cambridge Public Health Department, we have made the decision to delay the return to school until Wednesday, Jan. 5,” a spokesperson for the Cambridge Public School district said
The district said the decision gives them the opportunity to test as many students as possible on Monday, receive results on Tuesday and return to in-person learning on Wednesday with minimal disruptions by reducing unnecessary quarantines later this week and beyond.
“We believe that delaying the return to school is in the best interest of our school community,” the district said.
Starting at 10 a.m. Monday, The Cambridge Public Health Department and CPS will administer PCR tests for all CPS students at four locations, which include Peabody, King Open, Morse, CRLS.
“We highly encourage all families to do your part and have your student get a COVID test Sunday or Monday,” the district wrote in the statement.
