BOSTON — Many Massachusetts schools are closed or are getting a late start as a winter storm brings a mix of snow and rain to the state.
The worst of Monday's storm is expected to hit the Berkshires and Western Massachusetts, but much of the state is expected to be grappling with snow and rain that makes for messy and potentially dangerous driving.
The National Weather Service says the area along the Vermont border and north of Worcester could see several inches of snow accumulation. Around Boston, accumulation could be just an inch or two.
The heaviest snow is expected through the morning before changing over to rain and ending in the afternoon.
