BOSTON — The Boston Marathon bombing may have claimed a Rebekah Gregory’s leg, but it didn't claim her spirit.
She was at the finish line with her young son, waiting for a friend to cross when the homemade bombs packed with nails and screws blew up just feet away from her.
Gregory has a new book called “Taking My Life Back," which chronicles her road to recovering more than just her physical abilities.
"It was my first time ever even in the city of Boston," she told Sara Underwood on FOX25 Morning News. "It was so scary because we all felt so helpless at that point, you really did think, 'I'm going to die here on this street.'"
She went through 18 surgeries and 65 procedures, but her leg couldn’t be saved.
"People have life blow up in their face every single day and this is just my story, but I hope I can help somebody else by putting it out there," Gregory said.
