Man who confessed to hit-and-run in Allston due in court Monday

BOSTON — A driver accused in a deadly hit-and-run that killed an 80-year-old man is due back in court Monday.

Phocian Fitts confessed to the crime in an exclusive interview with Boston 25 News right after the crash.

That confession helped lead to his arrest.

Fitts is charged with hitting Ted Schwalb as he was crossing Commonwealth Avenue in Allston earlier this month.

Fitts told us he was driving too quickly, but that quote "people hit-and-run people all the time."
