The Lawrence man wanted for murdering the mother of his child in 2016 was arrested Wednesday in California, officials say.

On September 12, 2016, police found 29-year-old Wanda Rosa unresponsive in her Methuen home. She was taken to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rosa had an active restraining order against 33-year-old Emilio DeLarosa, her ex-boyfriend and father of her son. Police say he has a history of domestic violence and served jail time for his abuse of Rosa.

Nearly one year after her murder, DeLarosa was found and taken into custody in Patterson, California where he had been living and working using a fake name. He is expected to be arraigned on a fugitive from justice charge then be brought back to Massachusetts for trial.

An Essex County Grand Jury had indicted DeLarosa for murder and violation of an abuse prevention order in December. Massachusetts State Police added him to its Most Wanted list in February.
