Man shot dead inside room at Holiday Inn Express in Boston

BOSTON — Boston police say they’re investigating a shooting inside a Holiday Inn Express that left a man dead.

The investigation was taking place at the Holiday Inn Express on Boston Street in Dorchester, which is adjacent to the South Bay Center.

Few details have been released by police, but they said the man, who has only been identified as being in his mid-20’s, was shot inside a room on the fifth floor around 4 a.m.

Boston police Commissioner William Evans spoke outside the hotel Tuesday morning and said it appeared as though the victim was targeted.

“We got a lot of people in homicide be interviewed. We are trying to work with people who might have been displaced from their room to get them back into room," he said. "The fire alarm was pulled. It was a little bit of a hectic seen. I applaud people being patient. Our officers and detectives have to get their job done and again it’s unfortunate.”

Police said two suspects fled the hotel after the incident, and now investigators are sifting through surveillance video to gather more evidence.

No arrests have been made.

General Manager Wagner Quintaniha sent the following statement to Boson 25 News:

"The Holiday Inn Express – Boston hotel holds the safety, security and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We are saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the young man and his family during this difficult time. The hotel staff will continue to cooperate fully with authorities in their investigation. All further questions should be directed to the Boston Police Department."
