Man's body recovered after presumed drowning in Chicopee River

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A victim of a presumed drowning was recovered from the Chicopee River in Springfield, Massachusetts State Police say.

The victim is a young adult male, according to police, and was recovered from the river on Monday.

The search began on Sunday with negative results, and the State Police and Springfield Police dive teams recovered the body during their search on Monday.

The Springfield Fire Department had posted a tweet during the search, saying the missing swimmer had gone underwater in the river.
