Man rescues woman trapped in sinking car

WALTHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Across Waltham, flash flooding made for a tough ride, but on Lexington Street, a man made his way through water up to his waist to rescue a woman trapped in her car.

After the downpours Wednesday morning, Rose Nakimuli's car became stuck, causing her "the best scare I ever got in my life."

Boston Market Cook Steve Stark heard Rose screaming for help and he jumped into action. Her car was sinking and she was trapped.

"I carried her on my shoulder and took her out," he said.

Steve Stark is a man of few words, and our Bob Ward found that he doesn't want to be called a hero.

"I'm just a person," he said.

Rose is calling him her savior. When the pair met, she told him how happy she was and that he saved her life.

Connie Counts of Lexington was in the next car, and saw it all.

"By the way, there's a lot of people around here. One guy, did it, one guy went out," she said.
