Man pleads not guilty in crash that killed Curry College student

DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Stoughton man has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and manslaughter charges in connection with a fatal crash that killed a Curry College nursing student and cheerleader.

Sean Jackman was released on $25,000 bail and ordered to remain under house arrest except for medical and legal appointments after entering his plea Wednesday in Norfolk Superior Court.

Prosecutors say the 24-year-old Jackman was drunk when he crashed his car in Canton in May, killing his passenger, 20-year-old Evan Bard of Agawam. The couple had dated and although the relationship had ended, they remained friends.

Jackman and his family refused comment after court.

They were returning from a wedding at which Jackman had been the best man.

Bard's great uncle, Norm Minor, says the family has been devastated by the loss.
