WORCESTER, Mass. — A Worcester man underwent a double leg amputation after being pinned between two cars early Monday morning.

The 36-year-old victim was hit by an alleged drunk driver in the area of 23 Vernon Street.

Police arrested the driver, 22-year-old Jeffrey Pilco, for operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury. Prosecutors say Pilco had a BAC of .17, which is more than twice the legal limit.

The victim was grabbing things from his trunk when Pilco swerved and crashed into the parked car, nailing the victim between both vehicles.

A neighbor in the area heard the crash happening right outside his home. "The guy was coming really fast all the way from back there, because you know he may have been falling asleep and then 'boom'... not a pretty sight," he said.

He is being held on $10,000 cash bail and has been ordered to hand over his passport.
