MEDWAY, Mass. — A man hired to do tree work in Medway died after a fall on Monday.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Athol native Lewis Umbenhower, worked for a business called On A Limb Tree Service in Medway.

"There was an emergency call made, and Medway Fire and Police went to a resident's home in Medway," a town spokesperson said. "There was a man on the ground.'

Umbenhower fell from a tree Monday afternoon at a home located at 27 Broken Tree Road, and later succumbed to his injuries.

"He was just cutting down a branch, and fell about 30 feet," Town of Medway Director of Communications Sandy Johnston said.

The homeowners spoke to Boston 25 News, saying they were shocked by the news and that they had seen the crew of three men before they left for work.

They say the businesses came highly recommended by neighbors.

Cameras show the tree that was being taken down, with a harness on the ground close by.
