BOSTON — An Everett man accused of attacking a Boston Police officer appeared in court on Monday.
Andrew Bowman, 23, was held on $2,000 cash bail for allegedly punching the officer around 2 a.m. on New Year's Day.
Police say Bowman shouted, "You heard about the war, right?" before launching his attack.
As officers chased Bowman down and arrested him, they say he also shouted, "You are all doomed and you're going to die. They told me to do this."
Bowman was charged with assault and battery on a police officer causing injury, disorderly conduct, and trespassing and resisting arrest.
In court, Daniel Occena, defense attorney, said, "I think the situation is a bit bizarre in and of itself, but we have to let the facts play itself out, because he just got arraigned, I'm hesitant to comment."
After the arraignment, Bowman's lawyer said his client can't remember what happened in this attack.
Bowman is due back in court on Feb. 4.
