Man and his dog killed after being hit by car in Easton

EASTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A man and his dog were killed after being struck by a car near 24 Summer St. in North Easton Monday morning.

Officers responded to the crash at about 9:21 a.m. and found the male victim lying on the ground. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead at about 10:06 a.m.

Police have identified the man as 71-year-old George Power, of North Easton.

O'Hearne also struck a tree and a telephone pole. He was taken to Brockton Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, officers concluded 17-year-old Colin O'Hearne, of North Easton, was driving east on Summer Street when he lost control of the car and hit Power who was on a sidewalk walking his dog.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Charges against O'Hearne will be sought pending the conclusion of the investigation.
