BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man was shot and killed by police after he allegedly approached them with a large knife in Roslindale on Tuesday morning.
Police say the shooting happened near a CVS on Washington Street around 7 a.m. Law enforcement officials said Tuesday afternoon that they did not approach the man, 26-year-old Usaama Rahim, with their guns out, but that Rahim pulled out a large, military-style knife.
Officials say the suspect was told repeatedly to put down the weapon, but did not comply.
"The officers asked him several times to put that knife down. They gave him several commands. The officers tried their best, repeating. Again, several more orders to put down. And at that point, he came within the proximity that the officers used deadly force," said BPD Commissioner William Evans.
Late Tuesday night, FOX25's Ted Daniel was the first to learn and report Rahim was an employee of CVS.
Rahim's brother, Ibrahim, posted about his death to Facebook and said his sibling was shot while waiting at the bus to get to his job.
At a news conference Tuesday afternoon, authorities said they have surveillance video that shows Rahim pulled a knife. An FBI agent was one of two law enforcement officials who shot at Rahim, officials said Tuesday, and Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said the use of force is under investigation.

A medic took Rahim to Brigham and Women's hospital where he later died from his injuries."Unfortunately they had to take a life. That is never an easy decision," Commissioner Evans said.
Rahim was under 24-hour surveillance by the Joint Terrorism Task Force, FBI Special Agent In Charge Vincent Lisi said. He went on to say that there is no concern for public safety.

Additionally, police have blocked off a street in Everett and
that a source told FOX25 is connected to the incident in Roslindale. Another crime scene that may be connected to the case was established in Warwick, Rhode Island Tuesday evening.
According to FOX25 sources, there were three different Joint Terrorism Task Force teams out doing 24-hour surveillance on at least three different individuals in the area for quite some time.
There was an âactive plotâ centered around harming law enforcement officials, although it is unclear if it was operational, a source told FOX25. The plot may have been inspired by ISIS.
