Man accused of making bomb threat at Methuen hospital

METHUEN, Mass. — A man was arrested for allegedly making a bomb threat at a hospital early Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m., police said James Tirado, 41, approached a Holy Family Hospital employee and claimed to have a bomb vest.

Officers arrived and found Tirado in the parking lot, along with two backpacks and a small suitcase outside the emergency room entrance.

Officers searched Tirado and found prescription drugs Gabapentin and Burpropion on him, said police.

The bomb unit responded, along with K-9s, and it was determined that none of the bags had explosives, said police.

Tirado, of Lawrence, was charged with communicating a bomb scare and possession of a Class E substance.

During the incident, patients were routed to other hospital entrances.
