RUTLAND, Mass. — The trial begins Monday for the man accused of killing and dismembering his brother in Rutland.
Michael Dowjat, 68, of Holden, is charged with first degree murder in the death of his younger brother, David.

Prosecutors said Michael Dowjat stabbed his mother more than 70 times and left him locked inside a basement bomb shelter at his brother’s home in 2014.
They said Michael Dowjat was angry that he was left out of his father’s will, but defense attorneys claim he acted in self-defense.
