Malden police officer struck by street sweeper

MALDEN, Mass. — A Malden police officer became partially lodged under a street sweeper Thursday morning after getting hit by the vehicle.

The unidentified officer, who was working traffic detail at the time, was struck just after 11:30 a.m. on Winter Street.

After getting hit, the officer then became partially lodged in the rear sweeping portion of the vehicle.

Luckily, his injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Police said he was quickly helped and removed from under the vehicle, and was then brought to a local hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
