Maine man charged after stabbing in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — A Maine man has been charged with armed assault to murder after police say he stabbed another man during an altercation Friday night.

Bridgewater Police said they responded to a call on South St. Friday night after someone reported the stabbing.

When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old man from Bridgewater with multiple stab wounds on his back, neck and arm. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Police arrested 41-year-old Adam Martinez of York, Maine and charged him with armed assault to murder.

A folding knife with a four-inch blade was recovered at the scene.

Both men were taken to the hospital.

The victim, who was stabbed seven times, is expected to recover.

Martinez is being held on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to face a judge at the Brockton District Court.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
