LYNN, Mass. – A man arrested on sexual assault charges in Lynn has been released with a GPS monitoring bracelet, and parents tell Boston 25 News they’re frustrated by the decision.
James Finn, 74, was arrested last month and charged with indecent assault on a child under age 14.
He lived and was a trustee at the River Edge Condos before the incident. He’s accused of luring children into his condo with candy and offering to let them use his computer. The kids told police there were naked pictures of girls on the screen and Finn’s zipper was down, exposing his genitals.
A parent looking for her 8-year-old told police she knocked on Finn's door when she heard kids' voices and when he came to the door his fly was open and he smelled of alcohol.
“I’m really upset that he’s even out, and I hope he doesn’t come back here to the building. We have a lot of kids in the building, and I have two children myself. And it’s just unsettling,” one parent who lives in the complex said.
The District Attorney’s office told Boston 25 News it objected to Finn’s release, even with the conditions he wears a GPS bracelet and is restricted from going to the complex where he used to live.
Finn is set to appear in court next month, his wife declined to speak with Boston 25 News.
