LYNN, Mass. — A young cab driver whose throat was slashed during a violent robbery is speaking only to FOX25 as police continue to search for the men responsible.

Percy Nostades, the 21-year-old driver, was on Kirtland Street in Lynn on Feb. 28, around 1 a.m. He was planning to pick up a fare called in to his company, Nunez Livery, but two men had other plans; they jumped in his car and attacked him, putting Nostades in a chokehold.

“They told me, ‘Don't move, don't move any fingers,'" he said. "But I didn't move nothing, because they got me like that (in a chokehold), so how I can move?”

Nostades did what he was told.

“'Take all my money. Take my phone. I don't care,’ he said he told the thieves. "And they cut me. I don't know why they did that."

When the men finally ran away, Nostades managed to call for help, in pain and bleeding.

“I asked for help on my radio from the company," Nostades said. "So they called the cops, and then the cops come to help me."

Lynn officers arrived and Nostades was rushed to the hospital, where doctors told police the knife had missed a major artery by only a quarter-inch.

With no leads, police are asking the public for information to put the dangerous criminals behind bars.

“I hope the guys go to jail," Nostades said. "That's what I want."

Nostades is back at work taking fares. He says it's a dangerous job and hospital staff told him to find a new one, but he needs to pay his bills.

The suspects are described as Hispanic men between 15 and 25 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lynn Police Department at (781) 595-2000.
