Wreckage of missing plane found off Chatham coast, pilot identified as Woburn man

CHATHAM, Mass. — On Thursday afternoon, state officials confirmed that the wreckage from a missing plane was found two miles off of North Beach in Chatham, Massachusetts. State Police divers said it was located in about 75 feet of water.

The pilot of the plane has been identified as Roger Mills of Woburn, but he has not been located. Officials had been searching for Mills and that plane after it went missing Sunday evening before the search was later suspended Monday morning.

On Sunday, Oct. 31, that Piper PA-28 that departed from Reading, Pennsylvania was reported missing at around 10 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said in an emailed statement. It was headed to Chatham Municipal Airport.
