NORWOOD, Mass. — Tuesday is a rare day or at least the date is: 2-22-22
But Gary Clifford from Norwood wasn’t impressed. “Other than I’m working no,” said Gary Clifford.
That combination of numbers is called a palindrome meaning it can be read the same both forward and backward. And that unique combo struck some people today.
“I’m always writing down the date and so I realized it was 2/21 today and I was like damn tomorrow’s going to be 22222,” said Josue Rubio of Norwood.
If you type 2/22/22 into Google’s search bar and confetti flies across your computer, 2′s fly all over too and are followed by a message that reads “happy twosday 2you!
After thinking about it Clifford might try his luck.
“Maybe I’ll play a lottery number or something,” he said.
The Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Cambridge came up with a clever promotion for couples.
“And we just thought It would be a good opportunity to take advantage of the palindrome 2/22/22 while offering our guests and couples a nice savings of 22 % off their wedding,” said Jennifer Thorn who is the Area Director of Sales and Marketing for Kimpton Hotels New England.
But you must sign the wedding contract with the Kimpton Marlowe on Tuesday
Andrea Thibault works at the BMW Dealer in Norwood and because it’s 2/22/22 she expects it to be very busy.
“They come in for all different dates. They actually have the dates and numbers on their plates even they have to have special numbers for their plates,” said Andrea Thibault of Norwood.
She says there are as many reasons as people on why a certain date can motivate.
“Superstitious, lucky, it’s my birthday, it’s my kid’s birthday. Several different things,” said Thibault.
If you’re not one for all that superstition don’t worry. There’s is another way to celebrate on Tuesday. It’s also National Margarita Day.
