A Red Line rider pulled an emergency stop lever on Thursday night, disabling the entire train, transit officials said.
The incident happened on a train at Broadway Station in Boston shortly before 9 p.m.
Passengers exited onto the platform and the train was removed from service.
Video shared with Boston 25 appeared to show smoke and sparks under the train after the lever was pulled.
It wasn’t immediately clear why the rider pulled the lever.
There were no reported injuries.
