Victims hospitalized, driver arrested after fleeing hit-and-run crash in Duxbury

DUXBURY, Mass. — The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that happened overnight Sunday into Monday in Duxbury.

MSP responded to a multiple-car crash on Route 3 northbound near Exit 22 and Route 14 in Duxbury at approximately 10:25 p.m. When troopers arrived at the scene, they were told the driver who allegedly caused the crash fled the scene on foot into the adjacent wooded area.

MSP troopers, a K-9 unit, and a helicopter circled the area, searching for the suspect before finding them around 11:40 p.m. While they were searching and investigating the scene, Rt. 3 northbound was shut down, with traffic diverted onto Rt. 14, but all lanes reopened at 1:41 a.m., police say.

After the suspect was arrested, they were sent to South Shore Hospital for an evaluation of their injuries sustained during the crash.

Authorities say there were a total of 3 people injured during the crash that all needed to be sent to nearby hospitals. Police added that one of the victims is suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. No further details have been released at this time.
