UPDATE: Brockton shooting victim dies, 2 arrested in Virginia

BROCKTON, Mass. — A couple is under arrest for the shooting death of a man in Brockton.

Brendan Fernandes, 33, of Brockton, and Destiny Fontes Silie, 25 of Warwick, Rhode Island, were arrested in Virginia Wednesday, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

The shooting took place on Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m., near 401 East Street in Brockton. Brima Koroma, 24, of Boston was injured in the shooting. Koroma was taken to Brockton Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Fernandes and Fontes Silie were seen leaving the scene of the shooting in a blue sedan, according to the DA.

“[Wednesday] at approximately noontime, Virginia State Police stopped the blue sedan in Chesterfield, Va., and Fernandes and Silie were located and placed under arrest.” according to a release issued by the Plymouth County DA.

Both will now face rendition in Virginia. Following that they will be brought back to Brockton to face charges in connections with the death of Koroma. Fernandes will be arraigned on a murder charge, and Fontes Silie will be charged with accessory after the fact of murder, according to the DA.
