SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Two grandparents are safe after they were rescued from a fire on Wednesday morning in Somerville.
Boston 25 spoke to Peter Lancaster and he told us his grandparents were trapped on the second floor of the burning home.
Lancaster and his siblings made it out safely but firefighters had to rescue the couple and they were not hurt.
According to Somerville Fire Chief Charles Breen, the fire started around 2 a.m. on Kensington Avenue.
The two firefighters involved in the ladder rescue were injured and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
“They’re doing well, they’re doing well. I can’t really discuss their injuries at this point,” said Chief Breen who added that the injuries are not life-threatening and the officers are expected to be okay.
Fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
