Trump sign strung across live wires above Wilmington street

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Police are looking for the person who strung a homemade “Trump 2020” sign over live electrical wires in Wilmington sometime early Friday morning, posing a risk to passing cars below.

Wilmington police tweeted that the sign, which appears to be large cardboard letters that spell out Trump 2020 attached to string or rope, was attached to live wires on Main Street and was hanging so low that it posed a danger to passing cars.

“Not only did they run the risk of electrocution, but the low hanging sign caused a hazard to passing motorists,” the tweet said, which showed police blocking the road beneath the sign.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 978-658-5071 or through their anonymous tip line at wpd.org.

Police warned that is illegal to attach any type of sign - political or advertising - to any utility equipment in the town.
