Teenage boy arrested in Boston shooting that left girl hospitalized, police say

BOSTON — A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Boston on Wednesday night that left a girl hospitalized, authorities announced Thursday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a person shot at a home in the area of Milton Avenue in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood just after 8 a.m. found a juvenile female victim suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Boston Police Department.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the alleged shooter and victim haven’t been released.

Several juveniles were found during a search of the home, including a 14-year-old boy, who police say was wearing a backpack that contained a loaded Polymer 80-style 9mm black semi-automatic pistol. That teen was taken into custody.

The Dorchester resident is expected to be called to Dorchester District Court to face charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.

There were no additional details immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
