Suspect accused of kidnapping 9-year-old girl arrested in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Police in Providence, Rhode Island, arrested a 34-year-old man from Cranston, RI on Tuesday in connection to the abduction of a 9-year-old girl.

Officials had launched an investigation into the incident where they say the man abducted the girl before returning her to a nearby location.

Surveillance footage shows the abduction happened on Monday, Oct. 5 at around 3 p.m. in the area of Grover and Merino streets.

Charges are pending and there is no further information at this time.

The girl had just left her school bus and was walking when a suspect described as a Hispanic man, anywhere from 20 to 40-years-old, wearing all black with black hair and driving a silver Nissan SUV kidnapped her.
