WESTON, Mass. — It may not come as a surprise to many people, but the driver of a US Postal Service tractor-trailer that crashed into the Charles River is now being cited for poor driving.

State Police on Tuesday said the driver is facing penalties for “excessive speed” and a “marked lanes violation” for the crash, which happened on Saturday in Weston.

Video from the State Police Association of Massachusetts caught the tractor-trailer going off the road and into the drink.

The driver couldn’t swim and was standing on top of the truck when first responders arrived. He was brought to the hospital for evaluation.

The truck was carrying U.S. mail.
