FREEDOM, N.H. — The New Hampshire State Police are investigating an apparent drowning at Ossipee Lake in Freedom, New Hampshire.
At around 2:55 a.m. Saturday, police received a report that a man had entered the lake to swim but was believed to have gone underwater and never resurfaced.
First responders arrived on scene and began a search.
The victim was eventually located, and despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was identified Shawn Meader, 45, of Waterville, Maine.
At this time, the death is not believed to be suspicious.
The incident remains under investigation.
