DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Sunday night in Dartmouth.
Crews were alerted to the crash at approximately 10 p.m. Authorities told Boston 25 News the crash happened on Route 195 westbound in Dartmouth Sunday.
After further investigation, police determined the vehicle, a Jeep, was traveling westbound when it went off the road to the left before entering the grassy median and striking a tree.
Police confirmed it was a single-vehicle crash that resulted in one person dead and two other occupants with injuries.
One passenger, Eleanor Estrella, 63, of New Bedford, was determined dead at the scene. The driver, a 25-year-old New Bedford woman, was sent to St. Luke’s Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition. The other passenger, a 17-year-old New Bedford girl, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and is being conducted by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.
