State Police to charge 3 for throwing rocks at cars on Route 3

BILLERICA, Mass. — Troopers are summoning three young men to court on multiple charges related to throwing rocks at passing cars on Route 3 Sunday in Billerica.

After getting reports of two cars struck by rocks, State and Billerica Police located a 19-year-old male from Wilmington, a 17-year-old male from Billerica, and a 17-year-old male from Burlington on Sunday night shortly after 8 p.m.

A driver reported to Concord Police that the windshield of his commercial vehicle had been hit by a rock allegedly thrown from the side of Route 3 northbound in Billerica near Exit 27. The driver suffered minor injuries from flying glass and was taken to Lahey Clinic.

A second driver reported that his car was also hit by a rock allegedly thrown from the same area. He was not hurt.

Troopers found the three young men in the area of the reported rock-throwing and an investigation showed probable cause for them being responsible.
