South Shore man facing child sex abuse charges in connection with yearslong investigation

ABINGTON, Mass. — A South Shore man is facing multiple charges after being arrested Friday morning in connection with child sexual abuse allegations stemming from a yearslong investigation, authorities said.

John Donovan, 43, of Braintree, is slated to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court on charges including two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and one count of open and gross lewdness, according to the Abington Police Department.

The arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Abington Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Officials say the investigation focused on allegations of conduct reported to have occurred in 2021.

No additional details about the allegations were immediately released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
