Somerville woman killed by wrong-way driver in Littleton

LITTLETON, Mass — A Somerville woman was killed by a wrong-way driver after a crash in Littleton early Thursday morning.

According to state police, on Thursday around 12:42 am, troopers responded to a crash involving a 2010 Dodge SUV and a 2021 Mazda CX-5 on Route 2 eastbound in Littleton.

According to an investigation, a 22-year-old woman from Leominster was driving the Dodge when she entered Route 2 eastbound traveling in the wrong direction. She then struck the Mazda head-on in the area of the 114-mile marker.

The operator of the Mazda, Geetika Guruprasad, 25, of Somerville was rushed to Emerson Hospital in Concord where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Dodge sustained serious injuries in the crash and is facing charges including negligent abd reckless operation of a motor vehicle and a wrong-way violation.

The crash is under investigation by state police.
