WOBURN, Mass. — A broken water main caused a sinkhole to form on Forest Park Road early Tuesday morning in Woburn.

Woburn police said the water main burst around 12:30 a.m., and they received one call from a resident about their home flooding.

It happened underneath the Route 128 overpass on Forest Park Road.

MacInnes has lived in Woburn for 29 years, and said this is the first time his home has flooded.

At least one home on nearby Boyd Road flooded with water. “We got four, maybe six inches of water inside our house,” said Edward MacInnes. “It was coming down like a river. It looked like a river came right through.”

“It’s pretty bad,” said MacInnes. “We are going to need new hardwood floors, probably new couches, stuff like that.”

A portion of Forest Park Road between Boyd Road and Thomas Street was closed as of 5 a.m. Tuesday.

People should avoid the area as crews work to repair the water main.
