A seal that has taken up residence in Shoe Pond this week was making the rounds again on Saturday, swimming and frolicking in the water as a group of his fellow Beverly residents looked on.
Video sent into Boston 25 News by Stanley Forman shows the seal lazily swimming toward a fence that onlookers were congregating.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Beverley Animal Control stated they were in contact with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and advised the public to give the seal plenty of space.
“The seal does not appear to be in any type of distress and has the ability when it is ready to go back into the river,” stated Beverley Animal Control.
While officials believe the seal will eventually return to the sea, there is no shortage of fish in Shoe Pond for the seal to indulge in before it decides to leave its inland vacation.
