Residents displaced after morning house fire in Peabody

PEABODY, Mass. — Two people have been displaced after an early morning fire in Peabody.

According to Peabody John Dowling, crews received a call around 6:50 a.m. from residents inside an Ellsworth Road home after hearing a bang and seeing smoke in the basement.

Upon arrival, crews found that the two residents inside the home had safely evacuated. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire but the home was damaged from the basement to the attic.

There are no reported injuries to firefighters or the residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
