Remembering Jerry Remy: Visiting hours for Red Sox legend in Waltham

WALTHAM, Mass. — On Thursday afternoon, Red Sox fans and supporters of the late Jerry Remy are invited to visiting hours scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

Remy was a Massachusetts native who played for the Red Sox for seven seasons, coached in Boston, and spent decades as a broadcaster before passing away last weekend.

A large crowd is expected.

Where: Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, located at 773 Moody Street in Waltham.

When: Thursday, November 4 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Many Red Sox fans grew up watching Remy on local and national broadcasts. He was known for his sense of humor and insightful in-game analysis. Remy’s fame grew with the team’s success anchored by Red Sox World Series titles in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018.

In a statement earlier in the week, Remy’s family said the following of his time with the team:

“Jerry lived and breathed Red Sox baseball. Playing for his hometown team was a dream come true, and to have the opportunity to have a second career as the voice of the Red Sox was all that he could have asked for.

A private gathering for Remy’s family and close friends is scheduled for November 5 from 5-8 p.m.
