METHUEN, Mass — A woman was “blacked out” from huffing paint when she veered off the road and slammed into a Methuen home, causing a porch collapse on Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement officials said.
The woman, 31, of Kingston, New Hampshire, will be summoned to court to face a charge of operating under the influence at a later time, according to the Methuen Police Department. Her name wasn’t made public.
Officers responding to a report of a vehicle into a building at 91 Broadway Street around 1:30 p.m. found a Volvo station wagon lodged in the front of a home with a collapsed porch resting on top of the car.
A photo from the scene showed splintered debris scattered all over the yard and a pair of destroyed bicycles wedged under the car.
In a statement, police said, “An on-scene investigation determined the driver was allegedly huffing and blacked out prior to the crash occurring.”
Police noted that the woman will also face charges of second-offense OUI drugs, marked lanes violation, and speeding.
An investigation remains ongoing.
