Driver dies following SUV, pickup truck collision in Pembroke

PEMBROKE, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police responded to a fatal rollover crash on Route 3 south in Pembroke, just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

A stretch of Route 3 near the exit for Route 139 / Church Street was shut down for several hours as police investigated the scene.

Video from the scene showed one vehicle flipped over on its roof at the exit ramp.

According to State Police, a 2019 Mercedes SUV and a Honda Ridgeline were both traveling southbound on Route 3 in Pembroke and came into contact in a sideswipe collision.

Police said the Mercedes rolled over and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Police identified the driver of the Mercedes as a 54-year-old woman from Plymouth who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Honda is a 42-year-old man from Oak Bluffs and police said he was not injured.

Police said all lanes were shut down for 2 hours as a result of the crash and to assist in the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation by accident reconstruction teams.
